BizBuySell Pricing and Listing Fees (2026)

by Raises.com

BizBuySell is free for buyers to browse, and it charges sellers advertising fees, never a fee on the sale. On a six-month term, a Basic listing costs $74.95 a month, Showcase $99.95 and Diamond $199.95. Three-month terms cost more a month and 12-month terms less. Buyers can add BizBuySell Edge for $24.95 a month or $239.95 a year. Brokers sign up for BrokerWorks through a form, with no published rate. Every one of those figures is on BizBuySell's own pages, read on September 22, 2026. Rival marketplaces charge in three other ways: flat packages, subscriptions, and a cut of the sale price, which on online business marketplaces runs from 2.5% to 15% depending on the platform and the price.

Your signed order or membership terms govern what you actually pay, so read them before you buy. For what BizBuySell does beyond price, see the BizBuySell review. For BizBuySell against Raises.com, see BizBuySell vs Raises.com.

Seller listing plans

BizBuySell's listing FAQ publishes the six-month rates. The higher the plan, it says, the more exposure and features, which drives more buyer interest.

PlanMonthly price on a six-month termSix monthsNine months at the same rateTwelve months at the same rate
Basic$74.95$449.70$674.55$899.40
Showcase$99.95$599.70$899.55$1,199.40
Diamond$199.95$1,199.70$1,799.55$2,399.40

The last two columns assume the listing continues at its monthly rate after the six-month term, which is what the FAQ says happens unless the seller cancels. A seller who buys a 12-month term pays a discounted rate, and one who buys three months pays a higher one. The FAQ gives the direction of both and the size of neither, so the six-month rates are the only ones it publishes.

BizBuySell and BizQuest, twelve months side by side

The two CoStar sites price differently, so a seller choosing between them should run a full year. BizQuest publishes its 12-month rates. BizBuySell publishes six-month rates only. Its 12-month rate is lower, by its own FAQ, but the figure is not listed. The table holds BizBuySell at the six-month rate for twelve months, so it overstates BizBuySell's cost for a seller who buys the 12-month term.

Plan levelBizQuest, 12-month termBizBuySell, six-month rate held for 12 months
Entry (BizQuest listing, BizBuySell Basic)$599.40$899.40
Showcase$839.40$1,199.40
Diamond$1,799.40$2,399.40

Price is only half of it. BizBuySell's sell page says a seller's listing also appears on BizQuest and LoopNet. BizQuest says its listings appear across its own partner network. Ask where the listing will actually show before choosing on price.

How the listing term works

  • Terms run 3, 6 or 12 months. There is no one-month listing. BizBuySell says finding the right buyer typically takes several months.
  • The clock starts a week after purchase, even if the listing goes live the same day. The week is meant for editing the listing and reviewing the included valuation report.
  • After the term, it continues month to month at the plan's monthly rate. The seller can cancel at any time.
  • Cancelling renewal ends the listing at the end of the term. Coming back later means buying a new 3, 6 or 12-month term.
  • Cards only. Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. No checks, and every listing goes through the online form.
  • A valuation report comes with the listing. BizBuySell's sell page describes it as normally a $179.95 value.

What a listing costs against the time to sell

BizBuySell's FAQ says most businesses take six to nine months to sell, and some take a year or longer. Its Q2 2026 data put the median at 174 days on the market for businesses that did sell. So budget for the whole term, and for some months after it.

Now set that against the price. The median business in BizBuySell's Q2 2026 sold data went for $349,250. Nine months of Diamond, the top plan, costs $1,799.55. That is about 0.5% of the median sale price, and it is the whole of BizBuySell's charge. A Basic listing over the same nine months is about 0.19%.

For a seller, the listing fee is small money. The larger cost of an open marketplace is time spent answering inquiries from buyers who cannot close. Edge's badge speaks to that: BizBuySell pitches it as a way to stand out to sellers as a serious buyer.

What buyers pay

Buyer optionPrice, as publishedWhat it includes
Free account$0Search, saved listings and searches, inquiry tracking
Edge, monthly$24.95 a monthA serious-buyer badge on inquiries, up to four valuation reports a year, popularity data, demographics, commercial real estate data, benchmark comparisons, recommendations, extra filters
Edge, annual$239.95 a year, which BizBuySell rounds to $20 a monthThe same as monthly
Financial Benchmarks report$149, introductory price $99Industry trend analysis, comparative insights and capital intensity analysis

Edge renews automatically at the rate you pick until you cancel. The annual plan saves $59.45 against twelve monthly payments.

The valuation reports are worth a look. BizBuySell says each one values a business three ways and includes up to 500 sold comparables and 500 for-sale listings. Four a year inside Edge is a pricing check a buyer can run before every serious LOI, at no extra cost.

Whether it is worth paying for is a judgment, and this one is ours. A buyer sending inquiries every week gets two things a seller cares about: a badge that says you are serious, and data on how many others are looking at the same listing. A buyer who checks once a month does fine on the free account.

Brokers and the BrokerWorks network

Brokers who list several businesses go through BrokerWorks, BizBuySell's broker program. They join through a sign-up form that asks for the brokerage and the person's role, and no price appears on the page. BizQuest describes itself as part of the same BrokerWorks network, with exposure across BizBuySell, BizQuest and partner sites.

For a buyer, the difference shows up after the first inquiry. A broker runs a sale process, and Sunbelt's published nine steps, for one, include screening buyers. An owner selling alone sets their own terms. Ask which one you are dealing with in your first message.

What BizBuySell does not charge

Nothing on the sale, from either side. Its FAQ answers the question directly: BizBuySell is a marketing platform, it charges advertising fees only, and it is not a brokerage firm. Buyers pay nothing unless they choose Edge or a report.

It does not charge for financing either. BizBuySell's terms say it is not a lender, loan broker, financial advisor or agent, and it does not take part in lending decisions. Its Finance Center points buyers to three SBA 7(a) lenders, whose rates and fees are their own.

Three models, then. Advertising marketplaces such as BizBuySell, BizQuest and BusinessesForSale.com charge the seller for exposure and nothing on the result. Online business marketplaces such as Flippa, Acquire.com and Empire Flippers charge a share of the price when the business sells. Axial charges the buyer at close. The alternatives are compared in full, beyond price, in BizBuySell alternatives. Axial's fee is worked through at real deal sizes on Axial pricing and membership cost, its rivals on Axial alternatives, and the side-by-side on Axial vs Raises.com.

One sale, priced five ways

Take BizBuySell's median Q2 2026 sale price, $349,250, and assume nine months on the market. Here is what each platform's published schedule charges the seller. The online marketplaces sell a different kind of business, so this compares models, not interchangeable options. A laundromat cannot list on Empire Flippers.

PlatformWhat the schedule chargesTotal
BizBuySell, BasicNine months at $74.95, nothing on the sale$674.55
BizBuySell, DiamondNine months at $199.95, nothing on the sale$1,799.55
BusinessesForSale.com, USSix-month package $399 plus a three-month package $299$698.00
Acquire.com7% closing fee plus nine months at $50$24,897.50
Flippa, brokered$499 upfront plus a 10% success fee$35,424.00
Empire Flippers15% of the sale price$52,387.50

The spread runs from under $700 to over $52,000 on the same price. The percentage platforms sell more than exposure: brokers, vetting, escrow and closing tools. The advertising platforms sell reach and leave the rest to the seller and the seller's advisors.

The costs that come after the listing

The listing fee is the smallest number in any purchase. The money that decides whether a buyer closes comes after the letter of intent.

  • SBA equity. From October 1, 2026, an SBA initial acquisition needs at least 10% equity, based on total project cost. On the $349,250 median sale, that starts at $34,925 and rises with closing costs and working capital. Seller debt on full standby, other standby debt and passive minority investors can cover no more than half of it.
  • Quality of earnings. An SBA initial acquisition priced at $3M or more needs a quality of earnings report on top of the business valuation. SBA says it must be done by an independent professional for the lender's benefit, and never prepared by or for the buyer or the seller.
  • Equity outside SBA. On lower middle market acquisitions in 2026, lenders asked buyers to show 10 to 20% of the purchase price in net worth or liquidity.
  • Merchant cash advances. Some targets carry them. Advances seen on 2026 deals carried effective rates of 30%, and some ran to 50%. Any balance becomes a line to pay off at closing.
  • The investor vehicle. If investors fund part of the equity, they need a fund or SPV with a private placement memorandum, a subscription agreement and an operating agreement before anyone wires.

Raises.com builds that last part. It forms the fund or SPV, produces the offering documents, builds a CFA-reviewed model and the data room, then introduces debt and equity. Its pricing is on the booking page. See how Raises.com funds business acquisitions, read how the money gets raised on a business found on BizBuySell, or book a strategy call.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to list a business on BizBuySell?

On a six-month term, $74.95 a month for Basic, $99.95 for Showcase and $199.95 for Diamond. Three-month terms cost more a month and 12-month terms less. After the term, the listing continues month to month until cancelled.

Does BizBuySell charge a fee when the business sells?

No. Its FAQ says it charges advertising fees only and is not a brokerage firm. A seller who hires a broker agrees the broker's fee separately.

How much is BizBuySell Edge?

$24.95 a month, or $239.95 a year, which BizBuySell describes as $20 a month. It renews automatically until cancelled and adds a serious-buyer badge, up to four valuation reports a year and benchmark data.

Is BizQuest cheaper than BizBuySell?

On the rates each publishes, yes. BizQuest starts at $49.95 a month on a 12-month term. BizBuySell publishes only its six-month rates, from $74.95 a month; its 12-month rate is discounted but not listed. The two share an owner, CoStar Group, and BizBuySell says a seller's listing also appears on BizQuest.

Can I cancel a BizBuySell listing?

After the initial term, the listing runs month to month and can be cancelled at any time. Cancelling renewal ends the listing when the term runs out, and relisting later means buying a new term.

What does it cost a buyer to fund the purchase?

Nothing to BizBuySell. The real cost is the equity: at least 10% of total project cost on an SBA initial acquisition from October 1, 2026, and 10 to 20% of the price in net worth or liquidity on larger 2026 deals. The layers are laid out in how the money gets raised and on acquisition financing benchmarks 2026.
